Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean is the singer from OFWGKTA (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All) a new hip hop collective that is extremely experimental but still feature the vintage hip hop taste we all love. Good flow and metaphors etc...

Frank Ocean however, is on a different level. The singer-songwriter has been signed to Def Jam and apparently wrote songs for Justin Bieber (?!) along with a number of different artists but after being ignored a number of times joined the OFWGKTA. It's took him around two years to finally establish himself and create his own EP - Nostalgia, Ultra.

He has a vast array of influences that range from Coldplay, MGMT and Radiohead - and refuses to pigeon-hole himself to a single genre of music. Following his uprising he has begun to work with Nas on his new album and worked with Pharrell Williams.

After hearing his EP I expect nothing other than big things from him, catchy beats with complex (and obviously well thought) lyrics. Amazing talent like this can be slept on.

Notable Tracks:

Frank Ocean - Novacane

Frank Ocean - Swim Good

Frank Ocean - Songs For Women

Drake - Dreams Money Can Buy

Oh gollygosh...

Is this off Drake's new album? Hope so... Since discovering Drake a few years back it's been so exciting to see him get the recognition he deserves. Definitely one of the best out atm.

New Drake obviously sporting my blended beard look.

Don't know who produced this track but they certainly know their shit from sampling the Jai Paul BTSTU track for this new Drake song - take a listen to both...

Jai Paul - BTSTU

Drake - Dreams Money Can Buy

Don't know which is better but I know I can't wait for Drizzy's next mixtape/album.

Nas and Damian Marley - Distant Relatives

"Doorsteps of Bob Marley smoking cubans; herb with Jnr. Gong". First sentance of this documentary explains it all.

This is an insight to the two artists/revolutionists collaborating on the Distant Relatives album Nas and Damian Marley. They are both individually so epic to their own genres of music and both believe in a bigger divine meaning to life which makes this collaborative album so successful.

No rapping about money, hoes and clothes... Please watch if you appreciate real music and real people. 'Real recognise Real.'

One of the best tracks off the album is Patience - only recently started listening to this but the lyrics are on another level to anything i've heard in recent years... D. Marley and Nas I salute you - video must have been shot by the same people as Kanye West's - POWER.

Lyrics (Must read).

The Wilderness.

Located in Suffolk after awaiting planning permission, was finally built in 2003.

"The Wilderness spans a vast 750sq m and includes several sitting areas and six bedrooms, as well as an indoor swimming pool and a double-height front hall with staircase and a gallery that create a truly grand entrance."

It looks amazing... Hard to think places like this exist in the UK when you live in 'burminghum'.

Pharrell Joins Karmaloop TV

Relatively old news now, but if you don't know already Pharrell Williams has been announced as the creative director of Karmaloop TV.

I've always admired Pharrell for creatively giving back his success for people like us who like innovative projects - asides from being a sick producer at the same time. Recently he built a resource centre - "conducive to learning and serve as a place to “inspire and educate.” The center’s centre's (English blog) programs will seek to change the world of the underserved kids, one kid at a time, by giving them resources/tools to meet their unique potential."

What a guy! I'll give it a year or so until Karmaloop goes from an internet movement to a global phenomenon for youth culture... He's come along way from his N*E*R*D days, Watch this space...

Hopefully this will see the introduction of Bathing Ape and BBC to Karmaloop too as Nigo has announced a new marketing approach for BAPE :P (More info on a future post). Leave you with a bit of Pharrell magic!

Must Cop! 3 - Brooklyn Circus

Brooklyn Circus is a clothes boutique hailing from Brooklyn in New York. Their threads are seriously fresh! Bit on the expensive side though... if I was rich I would rock this shit every day.

These are just a few of the garments and accessories they do, and unfortunately BKc don't update their website/blog much.

I madly need a varsity jacket in my life that's actually worth getting which I would wear...

This is a brand new Spring/Summer jacket... although last year there was a black leather/suede piece that was sweet which is really hard to get hold of.

Must Cop! rating - 10/10

$250 means that this one would have to be reserved until I'm uber rich :(

Osama is dead.

TIME magazine cover to be released: This is seen as a major victory for the US and you can see why, the 'red X' over Osama's head is similar to an assassin's hit list - powerful cover.

So after almost 10 years of being the most wanted man in the world, Osama Bin Laden has been killed...

Is it big news? Of course it is, he is the representative of most of the Islamic extremist groups and the head of Al Qaeda, which is apparently 1 out of 20 Islamic extremist groups known to the US. So on a national scale they are debating whether to release pictures of his shot up body which was dumped within 24 hours in the sea as the US followed the burial rituals of Islam, which is quite nice considering he had no mercy for all of the innocent victims of 9/11. Personally, I would have stuck his head on a pole outside the White House.

But us real people don't have to worry about what there talking about in the news, we would have to worry about any possible reaction from the Islamic extremist minorities -  IMO this is the perfect time for these groups to plan another wide scale attack. It saddens me to see humanity not being able to co-exist peacefully...

Last laugh is with the US as they have captured hard drive's worth of data from Osama's house so we know where there all hiding in the mountains and there planning on beginning a new assault on Al Qaeda and other terrorist organisations - UNLUCKY.
